Duration of Stay : Under 90 Days


1. K-ETA :

  • U.S. citizens traveling to Korea for tourism, business, or other purposes can stay up to 90 days with a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization).

  • Apply at the official government website for Korea Electric Travel Authorization (Official K-ETA Website / Korea Immigration Services )

  • K-ETA eligible nationals must obtain approval before checking in for departure, but ensure you apply with sufficient time, as the assessment may take more than 72 hours.

  • For any lucrative activities or employments, you'll need an appropriate visa.  If your K-ETA is denied, apply for a proper visa at a Korean embassy or consulate. 

  • From April 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024, K-ETA is temporarily exempted for 22 countries/regions:

-  These countries/regions include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Macao, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, US (including Guam).

- If eligible for the exemption but want benefits like no arrival card submission, apply for K-ETA and pay the fee.  Previous K-ETAs remain valid until expiration.


Duration of Stay : Over 90 Days


1. VISA Portal :

  • For stays exceeding 90 days or other purposes, find the right visa type and documents at KOREA VISA PORTAL.

  • Select your details and follow instructions.

-  Select your "Continent", "Country/Region", "Purpose of Entry", and "Length of Stay".  Then, click "Visa Navigator Start".  Choose the visa type matching your purpose of entry.

  • You can opt for the e-Form (VISA application) or download the form and fill it out manually.  

-  Even if you filled in the e-Form, you will still be required to print it and visit the consulate to apply for your visa in person, as online visa application is not supported by the visa portal.


2. Making an Appointment(Reservation required) :

* For visa-related matters, the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Philadelphia is responsible only for residents of Pennsylvania and Delaware

  • Follow the non-membership login instructions, select the diplomatic mission, service, date and time.  Don't forget to cancel if you can't make it.

  • To cancel your appointment, go to the email confirmation of your appointment and locate "cancel reservation" and continue the non-membership login from the earlier steps to cancel, or call us at 1-267-807-1830.


3. Visiting the Consulate :

  • Apply for a visa in person at the Embassy or Consulate on your scheduled date, bringing along your Visa Application and any other necessary documents.

* Only residents of Pennsylvania and Delaware are eligible to apply for a visa at the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Philadelphia

*  Walk-ins are NOT allowed for VISA submission at the Korean Consulate in Philadelphia.

  • Visa Application Fee : The average visa application fee for U.S. citizens is approximately $45, payable in cash or by credit card.  Fees depend on your passport's origin and visa type.  Non-U.S. citizens can find the appropriate fee on the KOREA VISA PORTAL. 

  • Non-U.S. citizens may need to show their immigration/visa status in their current country of residence.

  •  Processing time will take approximately 2~3 weeks.  


4. VISA Grant Notice :

  • Access the KOREA VISA PORTAL after 2-3 weeks to check and print your visa grant notice.

  • Go to "Check Application Status > Check Application Status & Print".

  • Korean visas are no longer physically stamped or affixed to the passport.  Instead, print the Visa Grant Notice from the KOREA VISA PORTAL and bring it with you.
